I’m Karla Cota, founder and owner of Karla’s Creations Ottawa.
I am an immigrant from Mexico and proud Canadian Citizen too.
A Geomatic Engineer by profession, I have also been a stay-at-home mom since coming to Canada 12 years ago. I was trying to find a way to work from home when I heard the word “vintage furniture” some years ago. (It was a new word for me). I googled it and saw an interesting idea called Chalk painted furniture. I did research to find a local retailer and was pleasantly surprised to find that they offered workshops. I did my first one 3 years ago. I immediately fell in love with upcycling furniture.
Since then I have learned how to do re-upholstery too (and keep learning).
I really enjoy the creative process and how my family, friends and customers support my dream.
